Looking a little deeper.
FindingOut is an independent website built around a simple idea: sometimes the most interesting part of a story begins after the headline.
The aim is to look more closely at companies, businesses, investment ideas and other subjects that catch my attention — to understand what may actually be happening, why it matters, what could go right and what could go wrong.
What FindingOut Covers
For now, much of the focus is on Malaysian companies, business developments and investment-related ideas.
Some articles begin with financial results or company announcements. Others may start with something much simpler — a product, a customer experience, a pricing difference, a new service or an observation that raises a larger question.
Over time, FindingOut may broaden into other subjects that are worth examining in more depth, including technology, consumer trends, travel, products and other areas of general interest.
The subject may change. The approach remains the same: look beyond the obvious and try to understand the story behind the story.
A Personal Perspective
FindingOut is not intended to be a conventional financial research house, news organisation or professional advisory service.
The articles reflect personal observations, research and reasoning based on information available at the time. Where an article discusses an investment that I own or in which I have a financial interest, I aim to disclose that clearly.
Readers should therefore treat FindingOut as one person’s attempt to investigate and understand a subject rather than as a definitive answer.
Evidence Matters
Where possible, articles draw on company reports, regulatory announcements, official information, public data and other identifiable sources.
I also try to distinguish between facts, estimates, scenarios, personal observations and speculation. Sometimes the answer will remain uncertain — and saying that something is uncertain is preferable to pretending otherwise.
FindingOut may revisit earlier conclusions when new information becomes available. If the evidence changes, the view should be allowed to change as well.
FindingOut and YouTube
Some FindingOut articles are accompanied by videos on the FindingOut YouTube channel.
The website provides room for the longer version of the story — including charts, sources, explanations and downloadable reports — while the videos provide a more concise way to explore the same ideas.
